AROCA S.A. SUPERSPRINT SERIES REGULATIONS – JULY, 2015

1.    THE AROCA S.A. SUPERSPRINT SERIES

1.1    The Supersprint Series

The AROCA S.A.Supersprint Series (“Supersprint Series”) will consist of events of competition, each hosted by the M.S.C.A. S.A.

1.2    Eligibility to Compete

Any financial member of AROCA may compete in an event in the Supersprint Series.

1.3    Application of These Regulations

These regulations apply to each event in the Supersprint Series.
The AROCA SA class definitions below will in no way affect or are affected by the class structure used by the Marque Sports Car Association of S.A.
It is your responsibility to ensure your vehicle is entered in the correct MSCA category when entering any events.

2.    VEHICLE TYPE AND CLASS

2.1    Vehicle Type

(1)    Each vehicle entered by a competitor in an event in the Supersprint Series must be classified by type according to   Table One below
(“Type”).

(2)    To qualify for classification as a certain Type, the vehicle must meet the criteria specified for that Type.

(3)    Any vehicle that is not manufactured by Alfa Romeo is classified as “Non Alfa” Type with the exception of Alfa Romeo Specials.
This class will have the sub-classes:
a.    Under 2000 cc
b.    Over 2000 cc

(4)    Alfa Romeo Specials

1.     Philosophy: for vehicles developed or fabricated using Alfa Romeo components.

These vehicles may either be:

a.    Alfa Romeo coachwork with foreign engine or driveline, OR
b.    Alfa Romeo engine/driveline with foreign coachwork, e.g. Ricciardi
2.    This class does not have any sub classes, all vehicles are classed equally.

(5)    To assist interpretation, the intention of Table One is that vehicles
will be classified broadly as follows:

(a)    Type 1:  unmodified, road registered vehicles.
These are road registered vehicles with no modifications.

(b)    Type 2(a): slightly modified road registered vehicles.
These are road registered vehicles that have been slightly modified but not to the extent that overall the modifications are likely to give significant performance improvements.

Type 2(b): modified road registered vehicles.
These are road registered vehicles that have been modified to the extent that overall the modifications are likely to give significant performance improvements.

(c)    Type 3: vehicles modified for racing.  These are vehicles that have been modified for the purpose of improving performance for racing, but are not modified beyond recognition of the original car.

(d)    Type 4: vehicles substantially modified for racing.
These are vehicles that have been substantially modified for the purpose of improving performance for racing with most components of the car modified or substituted.

(e)    Formula 98:  These are road registered front wheel drive vehicles of 2L and 4 cylinder with limited modifications produced from 1998 onwards.

2.    VEHICLE TYPE AND CLASS CONT.

(6)    Despite anything else in these Regulations, a vehicle that does not meet all of the criteria for a Type set out in Table One, may be classified as that Type by the Competition Secretary to             achieve the intent of these Regulations as set out in subregulation 2.1(5).
In any such case, the Competition Secretary may request the competitor to modify the vehicle to achieve performance parity with other vehicles of that Type.

2.2    Vehicle Class

In addition to Type, each vehicle entered by a competitor in an event in the Supersprint Series must be classified into a class as follows (“Class”).

CLASS ENGINE CAPACITY

A   Less than or equal to 1600cc
B   1601cc to 2000cc
C   2001cc to 3000cc
D   3001cc or greater
E   Up to 2000cc only

 

3 COMPETITION AND POINT SCORE

3.    COMPETITION AND POINT SCORE

3.1    Championships

There will be three championships in the Supersprint Series:

(1)    Class Championship: for each Type/Class combination
(2)    Club Championship: for competitors competing in Alfa Romeo vehicles only, and
(3)    Novice Championship: for competitors in their first full year of competition and competing in Alfa Romeo vehicles only.

3.2    Championship Trophies

(1)    The following trophies will be awarded for the Supersprint Series to
the eligible competitor with the highest Club Championship points score:

(a)    the Club Championship trophy; and
(b)    the Novice Championship trophy

(2)    Trophies for each Type/Class combination will also be awarded for
the Supersprint Series to eligible competitors as follows:

(a)    first, second and third if there are more than three
competitors who have competed in a minimum of three events
in the applicable Type/Class combination;

(b)    first and second if there are only three competitors who have
competed in a minimum of three events in the applicable
Type/Class combination; or

(c)    first if there are only two competitors who have competed in a
minimum of three events in the applicable Type/Class
combination.

(d)    For the avoidance of doubt, for any Type/Class combination a
trophy will not be awarded if there is only one competitor who
has competed in a minimum of three events in the applicable
Type/Class combination.

3.3    Event Trophies
(1)    For each event of the Supersprint Series, event trophies will be
awarded for each Type/Class combination as follows;

(a)    first, second and third if there are more than three competitors competing in that Type/Class combination;

(b)    first and second if there are three competitors competing in that Type/Class combination; or

(c)    first only if there are two competitors competing in that Type/Class combination.

(2)    If at an event of the Supersprint Series there is only one competitor
competing in a Type/Class combination, at the sole discretion of the
Competition Secretary that competitor will be included in the next
highest Class in which there are one or more competitors.

3.4    Eligibility for Championship Trophies: General

(1)    To be eligible to be awarded a Class Championship trophy or the
Club Championship trophy, a competitor must have entered as an
AROCA entrant and competed in at least three events.

(2)    To be eligible to be awarded the Novice Championship trophy, a
competitor must:

(a)    be competing in a Supersprint Series for their first full season; and
(b)    have competed in at least three events in the Supersprint
Series.

3.5    Points

(1)    For each event in the Supersprint Series:

(a)    Class Championship points will be awarded to each competitor in each Type/Class combination
based on the fastest time within the applicable Type/Class; and

(b)    Club Championship points will be awarded to each competitor
based on the highest point score regardless of Type/Class.

(2)    For each event in the Supersprint Series, Class Championship points
and Club Championship points will be awarded as follows:

(a)    1st    10 points
(b)    2nd    6 points
(c)    3rd    5 points
(d)    4th    4 points
(e)    5th    3 points
(f)    6th    2 points
(g)    7th    1 point

MISCELLANEOUS

1.    The Competition Secretary and Committee may, at their discretion, exclude, include
or reclassify a vehicle as required in the spirit of the competition/point score.

2.    If a competitor has a dispute with the classification of a vehicle, or they wish
their vehicle to be reclassified, they must make themselves available to the
Competition Secretary, committee including the Eligibility Officer to put forward their case.

3.    If a competitor knowingly competes in a class for which their vehicle does
not conform, then their points accrued to that date will be forfeited.

4.    Fire extinguishers must comply with the current requirements of CAMS
regulations.

5.    Seat belts or harnesses must have appropriate labelling showing approval
markings for that particular belt or harness.

6.    Capacities – the engine size for supercharged, turbo charged and like cars
will be 1.7 times their actual capacity.

Wheels: alignment. Free wheel alignment adjustment in accordance with manufacturers recommendations and/or normal wheel alignment principles. As for Type 1. Free so long as still suitable for road use. Free wheel alignment within CAMS regulations. As for Type 3. As for Type 1.
Wheels: size. Rolling circumference and width of complete wheel must be as per original fitment. Wheel sizes may be increased in both diameter and width by up to 1” (2.54mm) over manufacturers original specifications.
