Committee Job Descriptions

PRESIDENT:

Chief executive of the club and chairperson for general and committee meetings. Primary representative of the club in its dealings with the public. Represents the club at National Meetings at Alfesta. Has a second or casting vote on tied votes at committee meetings. Must be a full, family or life member, and own or regularly drive an Alfa Romeo.

VICE PRESIDENT:

Deputises for the president in the president’s absence. Assists in the administration of the club. Looks for new advertising for the magazine, and sponsorship for trophies and events. Welcomes new members at meetings and introduces them around. Must be a full, family member or life member.

SECRETARY:

Deals with incoming correspondence and arranges outgoing correspondence as directed by the committee. Holds the key to the postbox and collects the mail. Keeps minutes of general and committee meetings. Must be a full, family or life member.

TREASURER:

Manages the club finances. Controls the club bank accounts, keeps records of income and expenditure and of financial membership. Issues receipts and membership cards, and keeps the membership records. Sends out renewal notices for subscriptions and advertising. Must be a full, family or life member.

SOCIAL SECRETARY:

Organises functions and events of a social nature, e.g. lunches, dinners, Christmas parties,observation runs, movie nights. Keeps attendance register for club points at social events. Can call on other committee members or general members for assistance.

COMPETITION SECRETARY:

Organises functions and events oriented towards motor sport, e.g. circuit sprints, driver training days. Keeps attendance register for club points at competition events, and records of results of competition events. Liaises with competition committee, and administers competition rules. Attends MSCA delegates meetings, and CAMS state council meetings as AROCA SA’s representative. Can call on other committee members or general members for assistance.

CLUB CAPTAIN:

Organises general meeting entertainment, e.g. guest speakers, films and videos, visits. Collates club points for the club year, to be tallied for the Clubman and Clubwoman awards. Arranges newspaper notices of upcoming events. Responsible for membership badges. Can call on other committee members or general members for assistance.
